Jonas Brothers Create Miracle Moment for CSH Patient
Gabby Brehm invited backstage at the Jonas 20: Greetings From Your Hometown Opening Show at MetLife Stadium
East Rutherford, NJ: Before taking the stage to kick off their Jonas20: Greetings from Your Hometown Tour at MetLife Stadium, the trio made a dream come true for 16-year-old Gabby Brehm of Toms River. Being backstage for a personal meet-and-greet turned their hometown show into something truly extraordinary for this New Jersey teen.
A former patient at and now ambassador for Children’s Specialized Hospital (the Jonas Brothers’ hometown Children’s Miracle Network Hospital), Gabby has an inspiring story of resilience. At just 13, she experienced a sudden AVM (areteriovenous malformation) rupture, a type of brain bleed. The medical emergency left her paralyzed on her left side. After surgery, she underwent five weeks of intensive inpatient rehabilitation at Children’s Specialized Hospital that restored mobility on her left side and put Gabby back on her journey as a happy, healthy teenager.
The teen credits Children’s Specialized Hospital for where she is today, saying “I didn’t want to go to another hospital after my surgery, but I can’t imagine where I would be today without Children’s Specialized. They gave me my life back and so many opportunities, like this one, that I would never have had before. I am so grateful to the Jonas Brothers for supporting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and all the kids like me. I will never forget meeting them last night!”
Last night’s meet and greet was much deeper than just another fan moment; the Jonas Brothers have long supported Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and Nick Jonas lives with Type 1 diabetes that developed in his teens. Children’s Specialized Hospital’s Chronic Illness Program provides comprehensive, family-centered care for children managing complex health conditions, with a nationally recognized focus on diabetes. Their pediatric Diabetes Program is accredited by the American Diabetes Association and the American Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists, ensuring the highest standards in treatment, education, and support for children in New Jersey.
“Miracle moments like the one the Jonas Brothers created for Gabby last night are absolutely priceless,” said Alissa Memoli, President and Chief Development Officer at Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation. “Having support from beloved hometown heroes like the Jonas Brothers reminds our patients that their community is behind them every step of the way, inspiring hope, joy and confidence that lasts far beyond that single moment.”
The meet-and-greet was coordinated by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation, the philanthropic organization that funds programs, research, and innovation at the hospital. The CSH Foundation team supplied CSH LOVES JONAS hats that the stars proudly wore for a photo with Gabby, showing their solidarity with kids everywhere who are living with unique health challenges. The moment is one she will treasure forever.
